Shaping lightness.

The objective of the igeL e. V. is to spread the concept of lightweight construction among the general public. This is to be achieved by promoting lightweight construction both in conceptual (theoretical) and material terms for industrial- and craft-level furniture making and interior design in relation to furnishings/buildings and timber construction.

Network and synergy.

The first step is a cooperation network involving the fields of academic research/teaching and industrial/craft business practice which embraces all stages of processing. Implementation is to be enabled by seeking funding from public sources of funds for the promotion of research, technology and economic development at all levels. Research and development projects are to be undertaken on a continuous basis at the same time and the results of those projects published. In this context the focus will be on the transfer of knowledge within the framework of seminars, colloquia, presentation and discussion events, along with workshops, with the specific aim of achieving synergy effects.

Initial training and further training.

The final focus of the promotional activities of the igeL e. V. is on initial training and further training. In this connection the particular focus is on promoting courses of study and further professional training, with plans for student projects and competitions. These endeavors are to be supported by the dissemination of information to school pupils, apprentices, students and those in work about the opportunities for initial and further training in the field of lightweight construction, with the objective of securing a lasting place for the concept of lightweight construction within society.
