Teaching and research
The Faculty of Production and Economics at the Hochschule OWL (University of Applied Sciences) has a strong focus on manufacturer-independent research and development in relation to lightweight construction. At the same time it also caters for the next generation of technical and scientific specialists. Lightweight construction as a subject area is to be integrated in existing courses of study at the university and is to be elevated to the position of a standard component in future.

The six member associations of the "Holz- und Möbelindustrie Westfalen-Lippe" (Trade Associations of the Wood and Furniture Industry in Eastern Westphalia), with headquarters in Herford, represent the interests of some 350 member companies. It represents them not only as a negotiating partner but in respect of data-related standardization and legislative proposals at both national and European level. In addition it also keeps its members up to date on industry-specific issues with events and circulars.

With members being interested companies from industry and the craft business sector as well as from every stage of processing, there is every opportunity for the forging of new partnerships. The value added
